PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact high-performance zoom lens capable of varying power comparatively on a telephoto side. SOLUTION: The zoom lens is equipped with a first group 10 having positive refractive power, a second group 20 having negative refractive power, a diaphragm St, a third lens group 30 having positive refractive power and a fourth group 40 succeeding to the third lens group in order from an object side. When varying power from a wide angle end to a telephoto end, the first group 10 and the third group 30 are fixed on an optical axis, and the second group 20 is moved to an image side along the optical axis, thereby varying the power. The fourth lens group 40 is moved along the optical axis, thereby performing the correction of an image surface associated with varying power and focusing. The first group 10 is equipped with an eleventh lens L11 having positive refractive power, a twelfth lens L12 having positive refractive power and a thirteenth lens L13 having negative refractive power in order from the object side.
