PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thickness change detection method of a metal member capable of detecting a thickness change of the metal member in the noncontact state with the surface of the metal member which is a detection object. SOLUTION: This thickness change detection method of the metal member includes a current application process for applying a current having a measuring frequency set based on the material and the thickness of the metal member M, into the metal member M which is the detection object; a detection process for scanning the surface of the metal member by a magnetic detection means 20, and detecting a magnetic field generated from the metal member M; and a specification process for recognizing an intensity change of the magnetic field, and specifying the generation state of the thickness change of the metal member M from a recognition result.
