PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil separator superior in oil separating performance, without deteriorating the operation efficiency of a compressor, while reducing noise generated from the oil separator, with a simple and inexpensive constitution. SOLUTION: This oil separator 1 separates oil mixed in delivery gas from an oil-cooled compressor. The oil separator 1 is composed of a gas inflow port 3 arranged on a wall of a vessel body 2, an oil gathering part 4 arranged downward in the vertical direction from the gas inflow port 3 in the vessel body 2, an oil separating element 5 arranged downward in the vertical direction from the gas inflow port 3 in the vessel body 2, a gas outflow port 6 arranged on the wall of the vessel body 2 above the oil separating element 5, and an oil discharge port 7 arranged on the wall of the vessel body 2 of the oil gathering part 4. A sound absorbing material 8 is arranged in a position for not soaking at least an upper surface in the oil stored in the oil gathering part 4, under the gas inflow port 3 in the vessel body 2.
