Disclosed is a method for joining the ends (110) of high voltage cables that are suspended on span poles, said ends (110) having to be non-removably joined together with the aid of a splicing device. In order to significantly reduce the expenditure of labor and the time required in previously known methods, two cable ends (110) that are joined together via a temporary connecting device are subdivided into a splicing section (110') which directly borders a face of a cable end (110) and is used for mounting a splicing device, and a fixing section (110'') located next to the splicing section for mounting a fixing device.
