PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens achieving thinning and high variable magnification simultaneously and equipped with a camera shake correction function, and an imaging apparatus using the zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens 1 comprises a plurality of lens groups and varies magnification by changing a distance between the respective lens groups, wherein a last lens group GR5 positioned on an image side closest thereto has a negative part group L51 having negative refractive power and a positive part group L52 arranged adjacent on the image side thereof and having positive refractive power, wherein the positive part group is shifted in a direction vertical to an optical axis to shift an image. The zoom lens satisfies a conditional expression (1): -0.30<fgn/(Ngn×fT)<-0.05 and a conditional expression (2):νgn-νgis>30 where, fgn: focal length of the negative part group in the final lens group, Ngn: average refractive index of the negative part group in the final lens group, fT: focal length of the entire system at a telephoto end,νgn: composite Abbe number of the negative part group in the last lens group, andνgis: composite Abbe number of the positive part group in the last lens group.
