PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strengthen rigidity of a pillar with respect to collision load at the time of side collision of a vehicle without increasing the weight and material cost. SOLUTION: In this vehicle pillar structure, an outer panel 1A and an inner panel 1B constitute a closed cross section. On the closed cross section, an outer reinforcement 2 is installed along the inner face of the outer panel 1A, and an inner reinforcement 3 is installed along the inner panel 1B. A projecting part 22 having an approximately U-shaped cross section and projecting to the pillar center direction is formed in an intermediate position in the width direction of the outer reinforcement 2, so as to strengthen the rigidity of the outer panel 1A side with respect to the collision load of the side collision. A tip part 220 of the projecting part 22 is arranged to be adjacent to and opposing to a tip part 31 of the projecting part 30 having an approximately U-shaped cross section and projecting to the pillar center direction of the inner reinforcement 3 in the vehicle interior outward direction, so as to strengthen the entire rigidity of the pillar.
