LEAD ACID STORAGE BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead acid storage battery in which migration of carbon being added to a negative electrode active material to an electrolytic solution and reduction of visibility of an electrolytic solution surface are suppressed in order to improve charge acceptance property of the lead acid storage battery. SOLUTION: A hydrophobic material to adsorb carbon is added into the negative electrode active material of the lead acid storage battery together with carbon. A hydrophobic resin fiber such as polypropylene or polyethylene can be used as this hydrophobic material. Since the carbon discharged from between negative electrode active material particles is adsorbed to the surface of this hydrophobic material and contact between the negative electrode active material and the carbon is maintained, reduction of charge acceptance property can be suppressed. Moreover, dispersion of the carbon into the electrolytic solution can be suppressed also, and adhesion of the carbon to a battery case inner wall and reduction of visibility of the electrolytic solution surface due to this can be suppressed remarkably.
