PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for a steel pipe pile by which the outer peripheral surface of the pile can be stuck closely to the surrounding ground without disturbing the ground when the steel pipe pile having a taper portion is placed under the ground to ensure a sufficient frictional force and improve ground resistance against an external force. SOLUTION: The steel pipe pile 10 has the taper portion 13 where the outer diameter of the pile 10 reduces from one end 10a to the other end 10b. The other end 10b with the reduced outer diameter is directed downward, and driven or rotationally driven by pressure into the ground, using a heavy machine 12 for drive-in. The outer peripheral surface of the steel pipe pile 10 is thus stuck closely to the surrounding ground 11 without disturbing the ground to form a foundation pile offering a desired supporting force resulting from the frictional force of the pile. A front end metal fixture 17 having a push-aside plate 18 is attached to the front end of the other end 10b with the reduced outer diameter. The steel pipe pile 10 is thus driven in by pressure while the front end metal fixture 17 pushes aside boulder stones and obstacles. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
