PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an easily bio-degradable chelating agent that has no eco-toxicological insufficiency, for example, iminodisuccinic acid, and increase the luminance and the brightness of vegetable fiber used in the paper making. SOLUTION: In the method for making paper that contains the process step for treating fiber-including thermo-mechanically treated pulp, the iminodisuccinic acid alkali salt is added to the pulp for bleaching. In a prefferred embodiment, the iminodisuccinic acid alkali metal salt is used in the pre-treatment of the fiber. In another prefferred embodiment, the iminodisuccinic acid alkali salt is used for the reductive or oxidative bleaching of the fiber. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
