The invention relates to a device for coupling a loader to a tractor, the coupling frame ( 1 ) of the loader being provided with two male or female coupling members ( 11, 12; 21, 22 ) and with a catch ( 14 ) biased by a spring ( 15 ), the coupling head ( 2 ) of the tractor being provided with two complementary coupling members and with locking means ( 25, 25' ), said catch ( 14 ) co-operating with said locking means ( 25, 25' ) to lock the loader on the tractor. The device is remarkable in that the coupling head ( 2 ) includes prelocking means ( 24, 24' ) with which said catch ( 14 ) can co-operate in order to occupy a prelocking position in which said male and female members ( 11, 12; 21, 22 ) are not completely coupled together, the spring ( 15 ) tending permanently to hold said catch ( 14 ) in the locking or prelocking position.
