An LCD is provided to improve image quality by preventing brightness non-uniformity by controlling the brightness of a predetermined area of an LED(Light Emitting Diode) lamp corresponding to an hour glass phenomenon lower even when the hour glass phenomenon by a polarizing plate occurs. An LCD includes a temperature sensor and a lamp driving controller. The temperature sensor is installed in the surface of a polarizing plate to sense an hour glass phenomenon. The lamp driving controller is connected to the temperature sensor to exchange signals with the temperature sensor and controls the brightness of predetermined areas(B,C) of LED lamps(27,28) if an hour glass phenomenon sensing signal is received from the temperature sensor. |
