POLYMERIC STENT HAVING MODIFIED MOLECULAR STRUCTURE IN FLEXIBLE CONNECTOR AND RADIAL STRUT OF HOOP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material and the related method for manufacturing an intraluminal stent to provide an opportunity to design a device for a specific purpose by engineering technologies for a designer of the device.

SOLUTION: A biocompatible material may be configured into various kinds of implantable medical devices including the intraluminal stent. Polymeric materials may be utilized to fabricate any of the devices including the stent. The stent may be balloon-expandable or self-expandable. By selectively and mechanically deforming the polymer, the polymer chains may be oriented to achieve certain desirable performance characteristics.
