WAVELENGTH DISPERSION CONTROL METHOD AND WAVELENGTH DISPERSION CONTROL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength dispersion control method and a wavelength dispersion control system capable of stably controlling the wavelength dispersion of an optical fiber transmission line by executing wavelength dispersion control taking into account PMD.

SOLUTION: A polarization scrambler provided at an optical transmission apparatus of a wavelength multiplex optical transmission system changes the polarization state of a wavelength multiplex optical signal at random and the optical transmission apparatus transmits the resulting signal, and an optical receiving apparatus controls a variable dispersion compensation unit so as to minimize a BER or the number of error correction of the received optical signal with each wavelength whose polarization state is randomized.
