PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress breakage of a mechanism, electric power consumption and heat generation, and to accurately control open and close timing of a valve. SOLUTION: An ECU executes a program including a step S202 controlling an electric motor operating a VVT mechanism for intake by feed back control when phase of an intake valve is phase in advance side of a threshold value CA (No in S106) and a step S200 controlling the electric motor by feed forward control when phase of the intake valve is phase in retard side of the threshold value CA (Yes in S106).
