PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner which suppresses the emission of foul odors due to the decomposition of an infrared absorbent at manufacturing and excels in safety even when an onium compound is used as the infrared absorbent, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same and an image forming apparatus that uses the same. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic toner contains at least a binder resin and an infrared absorbent, wherein the infrared absorbent contains an onium compound and the amount of aldehyde in the toner is 50μg/g or lower.
