PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape reel capable of preventing deformation of wound tape by eliminating a step corresponding to a tape thickness generated at the beginning of winding the tape. SOLUTION: The tape reel 1 mainly includes a hub 2 for winding the magnetic tape MT and a pair of flanges 3A, 3B provided at both ends of the hub 2, wherein a step part 4 is formed on a surface of the hub 2 where the tip end part MT1 of the magnetic tape MT is stuck for absorbing the thickness of the magnetic tape MT.
