<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent blocking of the opening of an inlet duct in an absorbing column with scale. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust gas treating apparatus 10 is provided with the inlet duct 12 connected to a lower side face of the absorbing column 11, and absorbing liquid sprayers 14, 15 provided in the absorbing column 11 at a part above the opening of the inlet duct 12 and spraying the absorbing liquid downward. Exhaust gas introduced into the absorbing column 11 from the inlet duct 12 is circulated through the absorbing column 11 while being sprayed with the absorbing liquid by the absorbing liquid sprayers 14, 15 to react sulfur dioxide (SO<SB>2</SB>) gas contained in exhaust gas with the absorbing liquid to absorb and remove sulfur dioxide gas.
