APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING HYDROGEN AND FUEL CELL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing hydrogen, in which a raw material and steam are subjected to a reforming reaction to produce a hydrogen-containing gas, and carbon monoxide in the hydrogen-containing gas is decreased by a shift reaction and the start-up time of which is shortened by heating a catalyst quickly while restraining the deterioration of the catalyst due to the condensation of steam at a start-up operation.

SOLUTION: The apparatus for producing hydrogen is provided with: a reformer 1 comprising a reforming catalyst for reforming the raw material and steam to produce the hydrogen-containing gas; a first raw material feeder 3 for supplying the raw material to the reformer 1; a converter 6 comprising a conversion catalyst for decreasing the carbon monoxide in the hydrogen-containing gas by the shift reaction; a second raw material feeder 4 for supplying another raw material to the converter 6; a converter heater 7 for heating the raw material to be supplied from the second raw material feeder 4; and a controller 12. The controller 12 controls this apparatus so that the raw material supplied from the second raw material feeder 4 is heated by the converter heater 7 and the heated raw material is supplied to the converter and after that, the raw material is supplied from the first raw material feeder 3 to the reformer 1.
