PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection element, a detection apparatus, and a detection method that can detect with high sensitivity and with stability. SOLUTION: The detection element for detecting the characteristics of specimens through the use of detecting light comprises a plurality of metal structures separated from one another; a substrate having planes in which the plurality of metal structures separated from one another are present; and a specimen housing part, at least a part of which is constituted of a part of the planes.
