摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify accurately a reference position of a crank angle, by preventing wrong detection at a chipped tooth part. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a signal plate 121 for crank angle detection having parts to be detected disposed at equal intervals wherein a partially chipped tooth part is formed; the first signal generation means 122 and the second signal generation means 123 disposed separately at a prescribed angle on the circumference of the signal plate 121, for generating the first signal SGT1 and the second signal SGT2 respectively at every time when each part to be detected passes; a reference crank position specification means for detecting the chipped tooth part from the state of the first signal and the second signal and specifying the reference crank position; and a crank shaft positive rotation determination means for determining the rotation direction of the crank shaft. A half of the angle of an equal interval part of the parts to be detected is used as a reference angle between the parts to be detected, and the prescribed angle is set to be larger than the reference angle between the parts to be detected and to be other than integer-fold angles thereof, and the reference crank position is specified only when determined to be in the positive rotation state by the crank shaft positive rotation determination means.
