The device (10) has two exhaust gas lines (16, 18) connected with each other at a coupling point. The exhaust gas lines are guided in an area of the coupling point in such a manner that flows (S16, S18) have opposite directional components in the interior. The flow directions of the exhaust gas lines are directed to each other, where the exhaust gas lines have a d-shaped cross-sectional profile close to the coupling point. A valve e.g. flap valve, decouples the flows from each other in a closed condition.
