The device has a drive unit for partial vertical lifting of a load attachment and/or a counterweight of the load attachment, where the drive unit has a drive component for driving a chain (1) arranged between the drive unit as well as the load attachment and/or the counterweight. A sensor device is provided for detection of disturbance e.g. failure of the chain, where the sensor device is separated from the chain. The sensor device has an adjusting path that is formed as an angle adjusting path adjustable around a rotation angle.
