The method involves continuously or discontinuously monitoring a parameter of load and/or deformation of individual support bars (3) by using a mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and/or optical measuring unit such as pressure sensor. A signal is delivered immediately if monitored parameter of the load and/or deformation of the support bars varies from a predetermined value, where the bars are made of wood, steel and concrete. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining deformation of a support bar made from wood, steel or concrete in buildings.
