PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map updating system that can reduce updating time and process burden by storing differential updating information used for updating after the updating and then again updating the map information based on the stored differential updating information upon entirely updating the map information. SOLUTION: When differential updating of navigation map data 39 is carried out by a navigation device 5 based on differential updating data 17 distributed from a map distribution center 2, the differential updating data 17 used for differential updating is stored in a navigation HDD 32. Subsequently, when entire updating of the navigation map data 39 is carried out, differential updating is again carried out (S17) by using differential updating data in a newer version than the entire updating data in the differential updating data stored in the navigation HDD 32.
