PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial-gap motor and a compressor capable of reducing force affecting a rotor in an axial direction by canceling gravity acting on a movable portion and thrust force with each other, and improving reliability and efficiency with a simple structure in the axial gap-type motor disposed in a vertical direction. SOLUTION: This axial-gap motor has a stator 40 in which a coil is wound around a magnetic body; and a lower rotor 30A and an upper rotor 30B which are fixed at a rotating shaft 4, and are rotatingly driven by the stator 40. The length L1 of an air gap between the lower rotor 30A and the stator 40 is set to be shorter than the length L2 of an air gap between the upper rotor 30B and the stator 40. The lower rotor 30A is attracted to the stator 40 more strongly than the upper rotor 30B; and at least a portion of magnet force in the axial direction between the stator 40 and the upper rotor 30B, and between the stator 40 and the lower rotor 30A is cancelled by gravity of moving portions (30A, 30B, 4, 5) including the rotor.
