PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commutator in which solder is not melted with heat generated by fusing. SOLUTION: An annular disklike carbon base material 5 having a slide contact surface 3 on which a brush slides and a commutator base material 11 to which a metal base material 9 having a plurality of terminals 7 for connection with a winding is bonded are supported by a resin insulator 13, slits 15 in a radial direction are formed at equal intervals in a circumferential direction and then the commutator base material 11 is divided into a plurality of commutator segments 17 thus producing a commutator 1. A gap 19 becoming larger toward the outer diameter side is provided in the vicinity of the outer diameter part on the bonding surface of the carbon base material 5 and the metal base material 9, outer circumferential edge of a member 21 for bonding the carbon base material 5 and the metal base material 9 integrally is located from the outer circumferential surface of the carbon base material 5 to the inside, and a self-aligning function portion performing alignment of the carbon base material 5 and the metal base material 9 is provided on the bonding surface of the carbon base material 5 and the metal base material 9.
