PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slot machine provided with a new entertainment and a method for playing the slot machine. SOLUTION: When a bonus game is won, a stop control game for stopping a reel by pressing a stop switch is executed. In this game, when a symbol which serves as a bonus game trigger stops on a winning line by a player stopping the reel by pressing the stop switch, the bonus game is executed. When the symbol which serves as the bonus game trigger does not stop on the winning line, a plurality of stop control games are executed by consuming no credit. When the symbol which serves as the bonus game trigger does not stop on the winning line even if a prescribed number of stop control games are executed, the symbol which serves as the bonus game trigger automatically stops.
