A device for temporarily retaining a number of parts such as chuck jaws in a predetermined relative position has a number of links 1, 3 pivoted together to form a deformable polygon. Pins 2 engage the parts to be retained and studs, or bolts and nuts 4, 5, lock the device in the set position. For trueing the mild-steel jaws of a self-centring-chuck, work 11 is gripped by the jaws, the pins 2 are inserted in holes 9 in the jaws, the linkage is locked by bolts 4, and the jaws are released from the work and then returned to gripping position in which they are trued by turning &c. after removal of the work. |
