PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily identify the kind of a battery pack and conduct appropriate charge and discharge. SOLUTION: A battery pack information code indicating battery information such as charge discharge voltage or charge discharge current is described on the outer packaging of a battery pack. When the battery pack is mounted on a charge discharge device, a read part reads the battery pack information code described on the outer packaging of the battery pack and obtain the battery information. A control part converts AC power supplied from the outside into prescribed DC power in charging based on the obtained battery information and supplies it to the battery pack. In discharging, the control part converts the DC power supplied from the battery pack into the prescribed DC power, and supplies it to a load. The charge discharge device identifies the kind of the battery pack based on the battery pack information code described on the battery pack, and appropriately charges and discharged the battery pack.
