PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately provide users with traffic news on routes in which vehicles are going to travel. SOLUTION: When a vehicle-mounted navigation system 1 computes routes, it stores place names (such as the names of cities, towns, and villages) and the names of traffic facilities (such as the names of interchanges) on the computed routes, recognizes speech of radio broadcasting transmitted from radio broadcasting stations and received by a radio tuner 12, extracts as traffic news speech of radio broadcasting including words (such as congestion and closure to traffic) related to previously stored traffic information and the previously stored place names and the names of traffic facilities, reproduces the extracted traffic news, makes a speaker 14 output it, and recomputes routes.
