934,858. Ships' windows. BULL'S METAL & MARINE Ltd. Nov. 22, 1961 [Dec. 8, 1960], No. 42315/60. Class 20 (3). A ship's window having at least one horizontally slidable pane 1 and at least one fixed pane 2 comprises a main frame 3 of uniform transverse section with an outboard spigot 4 for fitting in the ship's plating 5 as by a flange 6 on an inboard spigot 7, this latter spigot for accommodating the fixed and slidable panes 2, 1 and their mounting means and for mounting screw-pressure applying devices 24 for pressing the slidable pane 1 against Neoprene sealing strips 18 to render the pane 1 water-tight. The pane 1 is slidable on a low frictional resistance hard fibre " Ferobestos " (Registered Trade Mark) strip 17. The spigot 7 has an inwardlydirected flange 9 against which the fixed pane 2 is secured by a glazing frame 12 screwed to a ledge 10 of the spigot 7 and to the inwardlydirected rib of a central mullion 13. A coverplate 22 on the inboard side of the frame can be detached by unscrewing the pressure-applying knobs 29, and the pane 1 removed from the frame at a position opposite the fixed frame. The pane 1 moves loosely against felt strips 32. A modification using more than two panes (Fig. 5, not shown), is described. Specification 872,156 is referred to. |
