An adaptive multi-channel watermark embedding method is provided to embed a certain binary message in a digital image by the adjustment of image pixels. A signal for displaying an image having a certain message embedded by the luminance change of image pixels includes an invariable image component and a variable image component. The invariable image component is not changed in the embedding of the message including the image pixels having an invariable luminance in the embedding of the message. The variable image component includes the embedded message having the image pixels whose luminance is modified in the embedding of the message. The respective bits of the embedded message are coded by luminance values of the respective pixels of the variable component.
