<p>894,064. Mine shuttle cars. JOY MANUFACTURING CO. Aug. 19, 1958 [Aug. 29, 1957], No. 26608/58. Class 78 (4). An articulated shuttle car for use in mines comprises two sections 12, 14 pivoted together about a horizontal axis 16 to form a continuous trough in which travel two guided endless chain conveyers 22 with scraper flights 24, the pivot axis 16 being beneath their upper runs. The car is mounted on driving wheels 32 and steering wheels 30, the wheels 32 being each driven by electric motors 40, and the wheels 30 being interconnectedly steered as described in Specification 894,063 so that there is no steering component superimposed on the steering linkage due to articulation of the vehicle, the suspensions of each pair of wheels 30 being interconnected as described in Specification 894,065, giving in effect a one-point support for each end of the vehicle. In a modification Fig. 5 (not shown), the section 12 is provided with ground-engaging jacks for elevated discharge.</p> |
