PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation method for climbers and a navigation apparatus for climbers that have superior operability and allow the climbers to determine a surrounding condition by visual recognition in mountain climbing with a few targets. SOLUTION: By a GPS unit 32 and a position information processing section 31, a GPS signal is received at specific timing in a timer period for generating geographic position information of the apparatus concerned. Based on the map data of map database 2, it is determined whether there is the position information within a specific mountainous region or not. When the position information exists within the specific mountainous region, the position information is identified and displayed on a displayed map, and the position information is connected to position information being generated by a previous timer period ahead by one by a line as route display. By an azimuth sensor 42 and an azimuth information processing section 41, an azimuth angle in a specific direction in the apparatus is detected at specific timing in the timer period.
