It is an object of the present invention to provide a portable information processor which can display a practical menu image of registered programs on a relatively small screen. The portable information processor, comprises: an installing unit ( 12 ) for installing a program; a category information obtaining unit ( 13 ) for obtaining, when the program is installed, category information indicating a category of the newly-installed program; a category judging unit ( 15 ) for comparing the newly-installed program with registered programs on the basis of the category information obtained by the category information obtaining unit ( 13 ), and judging whether or not the newly-installed program overlaps in category with one or more of the registered programs.
