A pet carrier 10 has a base (11, fig 1) which is generally symmetrical about a transverse axis and has a plurality of curved slats 18-20 and 22-28 having their ends pivoted at 16 to the base about said transverse axis. The slats are divided into two groups (17,21 fig 1) and are movable between respective first settings where the slats of each group are nested within each other (Figure 1) and second settings (Figure 3) where the slats are relatively separated by pivoting about the axis, to enclose a space above the base. Adjacent slats are provided with interengaging edge portions to limit the relative separation thereof. A catch 31,33 is arranged to hold the slats in their second settings and a carrying handle 32 is connected to the base to upstand above the slats when in their second settings. In use a pet eg. a cat can be placed on the base and enclosed therein. The device can be stored in a flat configuration in order to save space. |
