摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic method and diagnostic device for estimating an operation state of a mechanical system in real time and diagnosing it. <P>SOLUTION: The mechanical system diagnostic device 30 has an ARMA model (for example ARMA (4, 3) models) for expressing an operation state of the mechanical system 20 (for example, tools, a working part, and dynamic state of workpiece in a mechanical working system); observes a specified physical amount by a sensor 21 at the time of the mechanical system 20 operation; creates an estimate calculated according to the ARMA model from a signal (s) observed by the sensor 21; calculates a difference (residual) between the signal (s) observed by the sensor 21 and two signals of the calculated estimate according to the ARMA model; and diagnoses the operation state of the mechanical system 20 from statistics (variance, kurtosis or the like) of the difference (residual) between the two signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p>
