PROCESS FOR PRODUCING ELASTIC AND/OR WATER DEGRADABLE WEBS FROM COMPOSITE FILAMENTS

A process of manufacturing a non-woven web from virtually endless composite filaments (1). The filaments used in said process are arranged in a sheath-core arrangement in which the sheath component (3) comprise a thermoplastic polymer and the core (2, 2') is selected from the group of an elastomer, a water-soluble polymer and/or a biodegradable polymer. The process according to the invention provides a simple and inexpensive process for manufacturing water soluble and/or elastic non-woven webs of any width, using virtually endless filaments.
