An apparatus and a method for changing a service channel in a digital broadcasting receiver are provided to buffer service channel signals and to select a changed service channel in channel changing while reproducing a buffered signal of the changed service channel, thereby reducing time to change a service channel. An apparatus for changing a service channel includes a service channel changing controller. When a service channel is changed, the service channel changing controller controls a broadcasting data storage unit(130) such that buffered data of a changed service channel are selected and output. The service channel changing controller resets selected and buffered service channels and makes a set by using them while resetting the buffers of the broadcasting data storage unit(130). The service channel changing controller reproduces the data of the selected service channel and stores data of the buffered service channel.
