PLANAR LIGHT SOURCE, BACKLIGHT UNIT AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY HAVING THE SAME

A planar light source device, a backlight unit and an LCD having the same are provided to reduce power consumption and a heat release rate by emitting plural planar lights with uniform brightness by a light source. A planar light source device includes a light source unit(230), a light converting unit(250), and a cap. The light source unit includes at least one LED(Light Emitting Diode) disposed at regular intervals. The light converting unit reflects light incident from the light source unit in the inside and emits the light. The cap is disposed in the upper part of the LED and makes the emitting angle of the light emitted from the LED narrow.
