A display device and a control method thereof are provided to block the connection of another IC sharing a DDC(display data channel) communication line when information is downloaded in an EDID(extended display identification data) storage module through the DDC communication line. An electronic device connected to an external device includes a data storage module, an image processing module(40), a writing controller(60), and a switching module(70). The data storage module makes communication with the external device through a bi-directional communication line. The image processing module(40) is connected to the bi-directional communication line. The writing controller(60) outputs a writing control signal used to control a writing function of the data storage module to the writing controller(60). The switching module(70) prevents the image processing module(40) from being connected to the bi-directional line according to the control of the writing controller.
