DICTYOTS DICHOTOMA EXTRACTS HAVING ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY

An extract of Dictyota dichotoma is provided which shows excellent anti-inflammatory activity. And a composition comprising the same is provided to prevent and improve inflammation. An extract of Dictyota dichotoma is prepared by precipitating fine powder of Dictyota dichotoma in 80% ethanol, extracting the ethanol precipitate using ultrasonic waves three times for one hour per the time, concentrating supernatant of the extract under reduced pressure, suspending the concentrate in water and then extracting the suspension with hexane, dichloromethane, ethylacetate, and butanol in sequence and shows at least one activity selected from the group consisting of the NO generation inhibitory activity, the initial inflammatory molecule generation inhibitory activity, the iNOS expression inhibitory activity, the COX-2 expression inhibitory activity, and the inflammatory PGE2 generation inhibitory activity. A composition for preventing and improving inflammation comprises the extract of Dictyota dichotoma as an active ingredient.
