A display device is provided to facilitate the switch between a two-dimensional display mode and a three-dimensional display mode, and achieve switching between wide viewing angle and narrow viewing angle during the two-dimensional display mode. A display device comprises an image panel(200) for outputting a predetermined image, and a barrier panel(300) positioned above the image panel. The barrier panel displays the predetermined image in a two-dimensional image mode or a three-dimensional image mode. The barrier panel includes a first substrate(310) having first and second electrodes(340,350) for applying a horizontal field, a second substrate(320) having a transparent electrode formed thereon, and a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate. A retardation value of the liquid crystal layer is in the range of 700-800 nm. The retardation value is obtained by multiplying a birefringence value of liquid crystal(330) of the liquid crystal layer and a cell gap between the first substrate and the second substrate.
