An apparatus and a method for changing a service channel of a DMB receiver employing a multi-frequency channel are provided to change a service channel quickly in the change of the service channel and to prevent a broadcasting screen image from being stopped. An apparatus for changing a service channel includes at least two broadcasting receiving and storing units(111), a selector(120), a broadcasting data decoder(140), a display(150) and a speaker(155). The broadcasting receiving and storing unit includes a tuner, a broadcasting data demodulator, and a broadcasting data storing module. When a service channel is changed, the changed service channel is set as a selection service channel while buffering data of the changed service channel are selected and output as selection service data.
