A network system management method is provided to enable a user who is at home or out of a house to efficiently control various home appliances connected to a network by using minimum communication resources only, and to prevent an error that plural network managers duplicately manage a new device when the new device which is not allocated with an address is connected to the network. If a device which is not allocated with an address is connected to a network while plural network managers are connected to the network, the device generates and transmits a message which demands address allocation. If a random network manager receiving the message transmits a message for address designation, the designated address is registered as an address of the device, and a message for address designation sent from another network manager is ignored.
