The invention relates to a protective circuit breaker (1) which is used to protect an electric circuit, comprising an actuation element (8) and contact connections (3,6) which protrude from the housing (2,10), in addition to a contact spring (14) which is connected in an electrically conductive manner to a first contact connection (5) and can be in contact with the second contact connection (3) by covering the free end side thereof. Said protective circuit breaker (1) also comprises a slide (24) which is coupled to the actuation element (8), whereby the contact ends thereof (40,41) are adjacent to the contact spring (14). The slider (24) is guided in a sliding manner in the housing (2,10) and the contact spring (14) impinges in the contact position counter to the returning force thereof and engages, preferably, in the on-position.
