The lock has a key channel for a flat key and a blocking device designed as a control plate (7). The control plate is adjustable in a slot in a cylinder core against the force of a spring. A set of control profile slots is brought in interference at flat sides of the key. The control plate is in interference with a locking recess in a cylinder housing (3) in a normal position and the key is adjustable in the core in a release position. An independent claim is also included for a flat key that is utilized for a cylinder lock.
