The method involves externally qualifying a computing environment, constituted by a general purpose computing work station (T-B), using a qualifying module for establishing a situation state of the computing environment. The situation state is edited in the form of an information report for a user using an editing unit, where the information report is edited in the form of an authenticated information report. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system for diagnosing a general purpose computing work station comprising a computing work station diagnosing device and a server (2) a computer program comprising instructions for implementing a general purpose computing work station diagnosing method (3) a computer program comprising instructions for implementing a general purpose computing work station diagnosing system.
