A digital video recorder, a digital video recorder system and a method for setting a set up screen thereof are provided to cut down the cost to learn a set up method and to reduce an error generated in a set up operation by displaying schedule, event, and operation contents on the same screen. A digital video recorder comprises an image input unit(110), a central processing unit(130), and an image output unit(140). The image input unit receives an image signal from a plurality of external cameras. The central processing unit includes a controller to store the image signal sent from the image input unit, edit and output the stored image signal. The image output unit displays the image signal. A set up screen is output to an external display device by the image output unit. The set up screen is divided into first, second, and third screens. The first screen displays the condition of the cameras set by a user, and a camera recording condition as a menu. The second screen displays the present set up condition of the menu which is selected at the first screen. The third screen displays plural buttons to edit the set up condition which is displayed on the second screen.
