A SEPARATING APPARATUS OF A VACUUM CLEANER

A device for collecting dust of a vacuum cleaner capable of being used in an upright or canister type vacuum cleaner is provided to reduce entire size of the vacuum cleaner and to improve dust collecting efficiency by consecutively filtering foreign material from air using a plurality of cyclone units. A device for collecting dust of a vacuum cleaner has at least three cyclone units(12,14,16). The cyclone units are serially connected and consecutively filter foreign material from sucked air. One cyclone unit surrounds at least one part of periphery of the following cyclone unit so as to reduce size of the vacuum cleaner.
